Two types of variable are available:
Page variables: used in page content and replaced by their value when published They allow you to enter one value to be used several times on the page, or to personalize a fragment depending on which landing page calls it.
URL variables: allow you to dynamically collect information passed in the page URL. Check the box to indicate that it is a URL variable. E.g. http://mydomain.com/mypage.html?email=user_email@gmail.com => the "email" variable is used to pre-populate a form
